The Most Frequently Asked Questions About Funeral Planning

Kenworthy Family Services, Inc. offers you and your family funeral planning before the need arises.  Many people have asked us questions about funeral pre-planning, here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions…

Isn’t funeral planning just for older people?
No, we believe funeral planning is a smart decision for anyone.  Younger people often carry ordinary life and health insurance to protect their families in the event something happens, and that’s wise.  It’s equally wise for them to take the next steps to arrange and fund their own funerals.  By doing so, they relieve their loved ones of the emotional and financial burdens when the need arises.  They may also enjoy the peace of mind that comes with having all their affairs in order.

What will my children think if I make my own funeral arrangements?
Naturally, attitudes vary from one family to another, but people who have pre-planned feel that making their own funeral arrangements is a responsible, loving thing to do.  In fact, people tell us that one of the primary reasons they enroll in the program is the peace of mind they have in knowing their children or other loved ones will be relieved of the emotional and financial burdens associated with making arrangements for them when the need arises.

Should I discuss with my family before deciding?
Many people find that a family discussion helps to ensure that everyone involved is comfortable with the arrangements being made.  Certainly, family members can form a closer bond through discussions of this type.  And often people are better able to determine what their real feelings and personal preferences are after they’ve shared this information with loved ones.

What if I don’t know what I want?
One of the advantages of pre-planning with Kenworthy Family Services is that our professionally trained staff explains all the services and options available, right down to the smallest detail, before you’re asked to make a single decision.  During this counseling session, many people discover options they never knew existed.  With full information made available in a relaxed, unhurried manner, you’ll probably find you’re able to get a better sense of your true likes and dislikes.  Then, making decisions will be easier for you, and your informed decisions will be more satisfying.

What if changes need to be made?
Should you wish to change some aspect of your funeral arrangements at a later date, you are free to do so.  Many people have made several changes over the years.  Our goal is to satisfy the needs and desires of our families; we’re not satisfied until you are.

Notify us immediately, we have contacts worldwide and are experienced in arranging transportation, notifying the proper authorities, and securing all necessary permits/documents.  All of your needs can be handled by our professional staff.

What if I more to another state?
In a mobile society such as ours, it’s common for people to relocate.  Kenworthy Family Services takes this into consideration by making funeral information and equity fully transferable, anywhere in the United States.

Are there other pre-planning programs?
Yes, there are other programs, but the Kenworthy plan was developed to provide the best possible security, benefits, and personal service to the families we serve.  One of the primary considerations in developing this funeral program was to assure funds will be available to meet rising costs.

If I already have life insurance, why should I buy more?
Life insurance by nature was designed in case of catastrophic accident.  Its purpose is to assist the survivors, spouse, children, etc.  The Kenworthy plan has been developed to cover inflations so that your are assured of 100% guaranteed protections, regardless of funeral price increases and regardless of how long you live.  That’s 100% protection from now on, not just a few years.

What if I can’t afford it?
Sometimes unforeseen circumstances can create financial problems for even the most responsible and conscientious people.  That’s why Kenworthy Family Services offers a variety of payment schedules and you may choose one that best fits your budget.

Won’t my veteran’s benefits take care of my funeral costs?
No, as with many government programs, Veterans funeral benefits can fluctuate based on the availability of government funds.  And, even if the benefits remained the same, they wouldn’t keep up with the rising funeral costs.  Most Veterans who have enrolled in our plan have stipulated that the government funeral allowance be sent directly to their survivors. The important thing to remember is that the survivors must apply to the Veterans Administration for the funeral allowance.  It will not be sent automatically to the survivors.

May I make the arrangements now and pay later?
Certainly, you may make funeral arrangements at anytime and have Kenworthy Family Services keep your records on file until you determine how you wish to fund the services.  Once you decide on a single or multiple payment plans, you may contact us and fill out the appropriate forms to complete your arrangements.

Wouldn’t I be better off to invest the money myself?
Invested money earns dividends or interest upon which income taxes must be paid and there’s no guarantee that this type of investment would keep pace with increasing funeral costs.  With the Kenworthy Family Services plan, you have the benefit of knowing there will be enough money to cover future costs, whenever the need arises, and you pay no tax on the increasing death benefit.

Can you guarantee my investment is secure?
YES, The Kenworthy Family Services program may be reviewed by your attorney or any knowledgeable person.  The pre-funded funeral is 100% guaranteed and will be available at the time of need.
