Wayne V. Kenworthy began his work in the funeral business in the 1960’s. Looking for a funeral home in the area in which he grew up, Wayne and his wife, Margaret M. (Sterner) Kenworthy, purchased the Bucher Funeral Home in Hanover, Pennsylvania in 1965. Owned and operated by Frederick Bucher since 1933, the lovely Victorian home circa 1897, was the ideal location to establish the W.V. Kenworthy Funeral Home. The Kenworthy Family has been providing excellence in the funeral service in the Hanover area ever since.
In 1992, Wayne and Margaret’s youngest son, Eric V. Kenworthy, joined the firm as a licensed funeral director and oversaw the expansion of the business as the family built its second location in Bonneauville, Pennsylvania. In 1996, Eric and his wife, Katie M. (Clarke) Kenworthy, purchased the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., in keeping with the family owned and operated tradition of promoting warm, personal and professionally run facilities serving area families.
In 2007, Pennsylvania native, Rebecca J. Donahue, joined the staff as a full-time licensed funeral director. In November of 2008, the Kenworthy Family added a new Cremation Facility to the Hanover Location – So that your love one never leaves our care. The Kenworthy family and professional staff have proudly served the Hanover and Gettysburg areas for over 40 years.
