A. Madeline Haifley, 94, of Gettysburg, PA, entered into God’s eternal care, Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Gettysburg Center.

Born April 26, 1922 in Taneytown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Crouse) Simpson. She was the loving wife of J. Roy Haifley with whom she shared 55 years of marriage before his passing on May 9, 1997.

Madeline was a manager for the former King’s Department Store of Hanover.

She was a member of Flohr’s Lutheran Church of McKnightstown, PA. She was a life member of Parkville Fire Company of Hanover and Porters Community Fire Company of Spring Grove.

In her free time, Madeline enjoyed painting ceramics and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Haifley is survived by her son, R. Wayne Haifley and his wife Kelly of Biglerville, PA, four grandchildren; Christopher Hertz, Diane Dean, Sally Miller, Ashley Hertz, six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and her brother, Harold Simpson of Hanover, PA. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith E. Heintzelman and her step-brother, Olin Porter and her aunt, Mildred Snyder.

Funeral services will be held at 12 PM, Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 66 E. Hanover Street, Gettysburg (Bonneauville) PA, with her pastor, the Rev. Thomas E. Darr officiating. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the funeral home and from 11 AM-12 PM, Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Madeline to the American Cancer Society-York/Adams, ATTN: Memorial, 924-N Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
