Burnell David Trone, Jr., 66, of Manchester, MD, entered into God’s eternal care, Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the York Hospital.

Born August 4, 1950, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of Dorothy L. (Sholl) Trone of Manchester, MD and the late Burnell D. Trone who died February 11, 2016. 

David was a 1968 Graduate of North Carroll High School, Hampstead, MD.  He was a veteran of The United States Army, having served his country proudly in the Vietnam War.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign medal w/60 Device, 2 Overseas Bars, a Combat Infantryman Badge, the Army Commendation Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. 

David was employed by the former Doubleday Book Company, Inc in Hanover prior to his retirement.

Mr. Trone was a member of Bixler’s United Methodist Church, Westminster, MD, the Hanover VFW Post 2506, and the McSherrystown Home Association.

David was an avid Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan and was a lifelong fan and follower of local high school sports.

In addition to his mother, Dorothy, David is survived by his sister, Karen J. Haifley of Westminster, MD, an aunt, Bernice Trone, an uncle, Guy Sholl and many cousins.    

A Funeral service to celebrate and remember David will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with the Rev. Arthur Thomas officiating.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Burial Detail providing Military Honors.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to Bixler’s United Methodist Church, 3282 Charmil Drive, Manchester, Maryland 21102.
