Carolyn S. Stauffer

Carolyn S. ‘Soap’ Stauffer, 82, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s Eternal Care Sunday, February 12, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side. 

Born July 10, 1934, in Canton, OH, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Mildred A. (Carnahan) Sowers.  She was the loving wife of Bernard R. Stauffer with whom she shared fifty-four years of marriage.

Carolyn was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.  She was a former board member with the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove and the Hanover Red Cross

Carolyn worked for many years at Lincoln Bus Lines as a scheduling agent, scheduling group bus tours.  Prior to her work at Lincoln she served as the executive secretary with the Hanover Area Historical Society and prior to that with the United Way in Hanover. 

Carolyn loved spending time with and watching her grandchildren grow up.

In addition to her loving husband, Bernard, Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Carrie S. Martin and her husband Sean of Hanover, PA, and Julie K. Moul and her husband Thomas of Hanover, PA; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Eric, Erin and Emma; and a brother, Robert C. Sowers, Jr. of Gainesville, FL.

A service to celebrate and remember Carolyn’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating.  Viewings and times to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, and from 10:00-11:00 AM, Friday, February 17, 2017 at the church.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.                     

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carolyn’s name to the Hospice Program of the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or to the Guthrie Memorial Library, 2 Library Place, Hanover, PA 17331.
