Charles W. Brenneman

Charles (Sonnie) W. Brenneman, born on April 19, 1944 passed away on July 19, 2016, at home after a courageous battle to cancer.  He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Dorcas M. (Baumgardner) Brenneman and his children, Brian and his wife Sandy of Hanover, and Tammy Kehr and her husband Doug of Altoona.  He was the son of the late Mary Brenneman Miller, of Dallastown and the late Chauncey Brenneman, of York.  He was loved by his three grandchildren, Alisha Renz and husband Robert of Hanover, Daniel Brenneman and wife Jeniffer of Hanover, Amanda King and husband Chris of Monroe, NC and two great grandchildren, Jacob and Leila Renz, and a great grandson, Tanner Brenneman due in September.  He was the brother of Marion Amspacher of Shrewsbury, and Betty Laughman of Glen Rock.  He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Brenneman of Glen Rock.

He was previously employed by UTZ as a route salesman and was a long-time painter and wallpaper hanger up until his illness.  He was a member of St. Paul’s (Dubs) United Church of Christ, the McSherrystown Moose and the Home Association of McSherrystown.  Sonnie enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR and spending time with friends and family.  He loved vacationing in Florida with his wife. 

Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Sonnie will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. Paul’s (Dubs) UCC, 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover, PA 17331 with the Rev. Larry M. Estepp officiating.  A visitation to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00AM at the church.  Burial will be in St. Paul’s Dubs Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s (Dubs) UCC, 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
