Chester Louis Smith, 99, died Monday, June 5, 2017 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center, Hanover, PA. He was the husband of Cleo (Pat) Smith.
Born March 9, 1918 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Louis Smith and Bertha (Myers) Smith.
He worked at Daniel Loughran Co. and Republic Van Lines, both located in Baltimore, MD.
He attended First Baptist Church, and was a member and Past President of AARP, Chapter #2812. He was also a member of York and Adams Counties Human Services Organization, Adams County Land Conservancy, Mt. Moriah A.F. & A.M., Local Chapter of 1918 Club, Adams County SPCA, and Defenders of Animal Rights of Maryland. He was a graduate of Towson Normal School (now Towson State University) and during World War II served as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps.
A memorial service to celebrate and remember Chester’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Friday June 16, 20917 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA. his cremains will be buried in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
