Dale F. Danner, 100, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Center, Hanover, PA.
Born January 29, 1917, in York County, PA, he was the son of the late Norman and Bessie (Rohrbaugh) Danner. Dale was the loving husband of the late Mildred E. (Miller) Danner who died June 18, 2011 and with whom he shared over sixty-nine years of marriage.
Mr. Danner was a member of St. Peters Lischey’s United Church of Christ, Spring Grove, PA.
Dale was a 1933 graduate of Hanover High School, graduated with a B.S. in Education from Elizabethtown College, and attended Duke University.
Dale was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Navy.
Mr. Danner started his teaching career at Mathias School, a one-room schoolhouse, for four years. He taught at York Suburban School District for many years and then retired as a teacher for Spring Grove Area School District in 1976. Dale was a member of the National and the PA State Education Association.
Dale enjoyed playing golf and making stained glass. He was involved in making stained glass windows at Homewood’s Chapel and Meditation Room and made many stained glass works of art for the residents at Homewood.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Carolyn A. Bare and her husband, Larry of York, PA.
A graveside service to celebrate and remember Dale will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the St. Peters Lischey’s UCC, 5671 Lischey’s Church Road, Spring Grove, PA, with his Pastor the Rev. Kathy Seiler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dale’s memory may be made to Homewood at Plum Creek, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
