Dean E. Zumbrum, 78, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
Born June 22, 1938, in Brodbecks, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Rinehart) Zumbrum. Dean was the loving husband of Constance “Connie” L. (Danner) Zumbrum with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
Dean worked for Hanover Wire Cloth, Suburban Propane and most recently for the Conewago Valley Middle School until his retirement in 2003.
Dean volunteered for the Red Cross for eight years, was a life-member of the Hanover Home Association and the McSherrystown Home Association, AMVETS Post 22, and the McSherrystown Moose.
Dean listened to country music, his favorite being Hank Williams. He was fun-loving and liked to make people laugh. He also enjoyed exercising and socializing with his friends at Club 2000, going out to eat, and especially liked spending time with his family and his 2 “special girls”.
In addition to his loving wife, Connie, Dean is survived by his children, Christopher S. Zumbrum and his wife, Shelley of Hanover, Carol A. Ward and her companion, Ellis Haynes; two grandchildren, Ashley Zumbrum and Lindsay Zumbrum; brothers, Gerald Zumbrum of York, PA and Jeffrey Zumbrum and his wife, Judy of Hanover, PA; and sisters, Arlene Kopp of Hanover, PA, Joyce Barnhart and her husband, Denton of Littlestown, PA, Judy Rummel and her husband Ronald of Hanover, PA; sister-in-law Marcy Haven and husband Charles of Hanover, PA; brother-in-law William Utermahlen and wife Donna of Taneytown, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to remember and celebrate Dean’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Timothy J. Kielley officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Monday, December 5, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA.
