Earl Eugene Slothour, 77, of Bonneauville, PA, entered into God’s eternal care, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Brethren Home Nursing Home, New Oxford, Pennsylvania.
Born May 18, 1939 in Abbottstown, PA, he was the son of the late Edgar L. and Helen J. (Myers) Slothour. Earl was the loving husband of Louise K. “Dolly” (Luckenbaugh) Slothour with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage.
Earl retired after thirty years of service from KBS Trucking. Prior to that he worked at Hanover Shoe Farms for ten years. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1342, Bonneauville, PA
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching wrestling and NASCAR and attending races with his wife and friends. He loved his hunting trips and spending time with his family.
In addition to his loving wife Dolly, Earl is survived by seven children, Robert Slothour and his wife, Diana of Arendtsville, PA, Leshia Cassatt and her companion, Dan Warrenfeltz of Fairfield, PA, Mike Slothour of Bonneauville, PA, Lori Sanders and her husband, Ralph of Gettysburg, PA, Linda Keiser and her husband Dennis of Gettysburg, PA, Joseph Slothour of New Oxford, PA and Tina Slothour of Bonneauville, PA; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; five brothers, Raymond Slothour of Orrtanna, PA, George Slothour of New Oxford, PA, Glenn Slothour of Bristol, OK, Ray Slothour of Hanover, PA, and Wilbur Slothour of Heidlersburg, PA, and a sister, Alverta Fogle of York Springs, PA. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Earl Slothour, Jr., an infant great granddaughter, Ava Riley Slothour, and a brother John Slothour.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Earl’s life will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 66 East Hanover Street, Bonneauville, PA, with Rev. Wilbur Slothour officiating. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, August 29, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Oxford Cemetery, New Oxford, PA.
Serving as casketbearers will be Lee Sanders, Dennis Keiser, Jason Keiser, Dan Warrenfeltz, Joe Slothour and Steve Slothour.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Earl’s name to the Brethren Home Good Samaritan Fund, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
