Elizabeth A. McDermott, 96, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side.

Born June 3, 1921 in Williamsport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Schmidt.  Elizabeth was the loving wife of the late George F. McDermott who died February 26, 1983. 

Mrs. McDermott was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA.  She worked as a sales clerk at Grant’s for many years.   

Elizabeth is survived by her children, George McDermott, Jr. of New Ringgold, PA, Elizabeth Nelson of West Bend, WI, David McDermott  and Richard McDermott, both of New York, Phyllis Panzo and Judith Valentine, both of Hanover, PA, Mary Palazzolo of Bayshore, NY and John McDermott of Ronkonkoma, NY ; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Carfango of Hicksville, NY and Jenny Anderson of Florida.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Schmidt and William Schmidt. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with Monsignor James M. Lyons as celebrant.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM, and 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.  Following cremation, burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
