Gloria C. “Jimmy” Small, 89, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, January 6, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of Robert R. Small who preceded her in death on June 15, 2013 to whom she shared 62 years of marriage.

Born April 13, 1928 in McSherrystown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arlington E. and Geraldine H. (Libby) Spangler.

Gloria was a 1946 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown.  She was co-owner of the former Revonah Manufacturing Company that specialized in designing heels and shoe soles for ladies’ footwear.  Gloria was a member of Annunciation B.V.M. Church in McSherrystown and the North Hanover Mall Pacesetters.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, boating on the Chesapeake Bay and traveling.

Gloria is survived by two children, Coleen M. (Small) Foreman of Hanover and Andrew G. Small of Spring Grove; one grandson, Bryant W. Foreman of Hanover, and two granddaughters; Marisa R. and Madison L. Small of Spring Grove; two sisters, Constance S. Hartlaub of McSherrystown and Marguerite A. Spangler of York.  She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille A. Wherley, Catherine Mehring Killeen, Mary Louise Shrader Slagle and one brother, Edward O. Spangler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church, 26 North Third Street, McSherrystown, PA, with Reverend Charles L. Persing as celebrant.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with a Prayer Service at 8:00 PM.

Serving as Casketbearers will be Bryant W. Foreman, Anthony J. Shrader, Jeffrey W. Hartlaub, Kenneth E. Myers, William Miller and William J. Rineman, III.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gloria may be made to Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church, 26 North 3rd Street, McSherrystown, PA 17344.

The family wishes to thank the Visiting Nurse Association of Hanover and Spring Grove, Visiting Angels of Hanover, and Compassionate Care Hospice for providing endearing care for Gloria.
