James A. Martz, Sr., 68, of Hanover, PA, entered into eternal life with the Lord that he loved and trusted, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his residence.

Born January 2, 1948, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late John J. and Dorothy A. (Miller) Martz. 

James attended South Western High School and went on to become a top sales performer at Cramer’s Zeigler Tires. He then retired from the family business, Martz Bros. Painting.

During his life, James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, auto racing, farming, and raising animals.

He is survived by his former wife and friend, Karen L. (Sprenkle) Martz of Hanover, PA; sons, James A. Martz, Jr. and wife, Grace of Spring Grove, PA, and Rick A. Martz and wife, Karen L. of Hanover, PA; daughters, Tammy S. Redding and husband, Craig of Hanover, PA, and Julie A. Wright and husband, Scott of Spring Grove, PA; and son, David J. Smith and wife, Gina of Felton, PA; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth E. Martz, Sr. and Ronald M. Martz; sisters, Barbara A. Stevens and Joanne M. Geiman, all of Hanover, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by brothers, George F. Martz and John J. Martz; sister, Rose Hess; and special niece, Nancy A. Fink.                            

A service to celebrate and remember James’ life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with his nephew, the Rev. Kenneth E. Martz, Jr. officiating.  Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00AM, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the funeral home.
