Janet T. Houck, 83, of York, PA, and formerly of Hanover, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, June 11, 2017 while at Autumn House West, York, PA. 

Born October 4, 1933 in Hanover, PA, Janet was the daughter of the late Ellsworth J. Krichten and Mary (J. Pohlman) Krichten.  She was the loving wife of the late Wayne C. Houck, who died February 1, 2013. 

Janet was a member of Bethel Assembly of God, Littlestown, PA. 

Janet retired after many years, having worked at Hanover Brands, the Middleburg Thread & Sewing Factory and Revonah Spinning Mills.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, and entertaining whether it be for holiday meals or summer picnics. She loved to bargain and yard sale shop whenever she was able. Each and every grandchild was the beneficiary of her shopping.

Janet is survived by her children, Jeffrey W. Houck and his wife Leslie of Mount Joy, PA, Sheri A. Miller and her husband Joseph of Hanover, and Chris A. Houck and his wife, Rina of York, PA; nine grandchildren, Jordan, Brent, Jennifer, Chad, Brandon, Samuel, Hannah, Maria and Matthew; four great-grandchildren, Cora, Duncan, Noah and Soren; four sisters, Mildred Heagy, Gladys Shaffer, Gloria Dennis and Mary Seigrist.  Janet was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly A. Houck; three brothers; and three sisters.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Janet will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.  Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janet’s name to Caring Hospice Services, 101 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
