Janet L. Reaver, 96, of Abbottstown, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Brethren Home Community. 

Born June 12, 1921 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer E. and Pauline (Grim) Markle.  Janet was the loving wife of the late Donald LeRoy Reaver who died March 21, 1991.

Janet was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Abbottstown, PA, The National AARP as well as the local New Oxford Chapter. 

Mrs. Reaver worked in sewing factories and went back to LPN School at the age of 46.  She then worked at the Hanover Hospital and Gettysburg Lutheran Home as a LPN.

Janet is survived by her children, Spencer L. Reaver of Elliottsburg, PA, Donna R. Brenneman of New Oxford, PA, Susan E. Brown of Florida; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Beverly A. Graf.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Dean Markle.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Janet’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Barbara Brenneman officiating.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janet’s memory may be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Center Square, Abbottstown, PA 17301.
