Kenneth Kessler

August 4, 1926 ~ May 15, 2016 (age 89) 89 Years Old


Kenneth E. Kessler, 89, of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care, Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Cross Keys Village at the Brethren Home, New Oxford, PA. 

 Born August 4, 1926 in Porters Sideling, PA, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Lovie (Kaltreider) Kessler.  Kenneth was the loving husband of the late Johnetta F. (Coldren) Kessler, who died May 23, 2006.

 Mr. Kessler was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA where he participated in the Adult Choir and the Men’s Choir.  He was a member of the Hanover Community Singers.  Ken also played with the Moose Band and the Littlestown Municipal Community Band.

 Kenneth retired from P.H. Gladfelter, where he was a cutting operator.  Prior to that, he was employed by the Hanover Shoe Company.

 In his free time, Ken enjoyed woodworking.  Most importantly, he treasured time spent with his family.   

Kenneth is survived by his children, Nina J. Kessler of Hanover, PA, Nancy A. Richard of Falls River, MA, Nevin E. Kessler of Allenhurst, NJ and Norma L. Sesto and her husband Paul of Columbia, MD; six grandsons, Paul Richards, Joseph Kessler, Anthony Sesto, Nathan Sesto, Lucas Kessler, Dominic Sesto; two great grandchildren, Finnegan Richards and Claude Richards; a brother, Burnell Kessler of Spring Grove, PA; and two sisters, Verna Campbell and Patricia Kessler, both of York, PA.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton Kessler. 

 A funeral service to celebrate and remember Kenneth’s life will be held 11 AM, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  Viewings will be held 6:00-8:00PM, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA and from 10:00-11:00AM, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the church.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Kenneth’s name may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
