Levere M. Kopp, 90, of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care, Monday, June 13, 2016 in Hanover with his family by his side.

Born March 31, 1926 in Lineboro, MD, he was the son of the late Franklin L. and Vergie (Snyder) Kopp. He was the loving husband of Arlene M. (Zumbrum) Kopp with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

He was a graduate of Manchester High School, Manchester, MD. Levere was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country proudly during World War II.

Mr. Kopp was a member of St. David’s Lutheran Church, Hanover. Levere was a life member of the Lineboro Volunteer Fire Department, joining in August of 1940 and serving for over 75 years. Over this time, Levere held the following offices in the Department: Secretary, 1947; Assistant Secretary, 1950 through 1954; First Assistant Chief, 1953; and Fire Chief, 1954 through 1977. He last served as Property Manager and department mailman until 2014. In 2003, he was inducted into the Carroll County Fireman’s Association Hall of Fame and on June 1st, the recommendation was made to have Mr. Kopp inducted into the Maryland State Fireman’s Association Hall of Fame.

Levere’s other memberships include; the Amvets Post #22 of Hanover, life member of the Hanover Moose Lodge #227, Hanover and a former member of the Republican Club of Hanover.

Levere retired after 51 years of service as a millworker from Kopp’s Lumber Company of Lineboro, MD. In addition to his wife Arlene, Levere is survived by his children; Brian L. Kopp and his wife Connie of Manchester, MD, Karen M. Kopp of Alameda, CA, step-son, Nevin G. Rohrbaugh and his wife Linda of Hanover, PA, grandchildren; Sara Bush, Neil Rohrbaugh, three great-grandchildren; Gavin Bush, Joshua Rohrbaugh and Abigail Rohrbaugh. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene (Albright) Kopp who passed in 1969 and his brother, Leon Kopp.

A funeral service to remember Levere’s life will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at St. David’s Lutheran Church, 1032 Musselman Road, Hanover, PA with his pastor, the Rev. Ladonna Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lazarus Cemetery, Lineboro, MD. A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM, Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA and from 10-11 AM, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the church.

Full military honors will be provided by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard of Hanover.
