Mabel I. Barrick, 90, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at SpiriTrust Lutheran at Utz Terrace, Hanover, PA with her loving family by her side. 

Born August 23, 1926, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Freizer and Fannie (Bort) Mummert.  Mabel was the loving wife of the late Clark Joseph “Whitey” Barrick who died September 26, 2008.   

Mabel was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.  She was a member of the Hanover Mall Walkers.

Mabel was employed by Keystone Wire for fifteen years.  She was also a Sales Associate at the Bon-Ton for numerous years.

Mabel was a loving mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed making large dinners for family and friends.  Everyone loved her fruit pies.  Mabel and Whitey enjoyed travelling extensively throughout the United States.  They enjoyed playing cards and dining out with family.

Mabel is survived by three daughters, Elaine M. Forry and husband Bob, Joan I. Wentz and husband Jesse, and Brenda J. Laughman all of Hanover, PA; five grandchildren, Kim Beaumont of Hanover, PA, Molly Heilman of York, PA, Jason Wentz, Justin Wentz both of Hanover, PA, and Eric Laughman of York, PA; seven great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jack, Preston, Marco, Cora, Koben and Ava; and one brother, Burnell Mummert of York, PA.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Robert and Ralph Mummert; and three sisters, Alice Haulman, Henrietta Wildasin and Betty Zeigler.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Mabel’s life will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Nancy Werner, Chaplain at Utz Terrace officiating.  Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the funeral home.  

Contributions may be made in memory of Mabel to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove Hospice Program, 440 North Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.

Serving as casketbearers will be Kim Beaumont, Brad Beaumont, Molly Heilman, Jim Heilman, Jason Wentz, Justin Wentz, and Eric Laughman.  Serving as honorary casketbearer will be Larry Walton.
