Mary Evelyn Moul, 96, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center.
Born July 22, 1921 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mabel E. (Werner) Tracy. Mary was the loving wife of the late Philip W. Moul with whom she shared sixty-six years of marriage until his passing on June 21, 2009.
Mrs. Moul was a 75-year member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover, PA., where she was a former member of the church council and former Sunday school teacher.
Mary was a 1938 graduate of Eichelberger High School, a 1943 graduate of Elizabethtown College with a B.S. in Elementary Education and later received her Master’s in Education from Millersville State Teachers College.
Mrs. Moul had a career in education that spanned 45 years. She began as a one room schoolhouse teacher at the Nace Schoolhouse and later at the Hoffacker Schoolhouse, where she taught all 8 grades. She joined the Spring Grove School District at the Iron Ridge School and then taught for 32 years at Heidelberg Elementary School until her retirement in 1986.
Mary is survived by three daughters, Louise E. Jira of Frederick, MD, Jeanne E. Hull and her husband James H. of Walkersville, MD, Becky K. Price and her husband Raymond F., Jr. of Keymar, MD, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, one brother, John E. Tracy of Orlando, FL, and one sister, Nadine E. Tracy of Hanover, PA. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy M. Bortner and one sister, Frances E. Tracy.
A service to remember and celebrate Mary's life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 31, 2018 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 127 York Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the church.
