Mary Lou Rutty, 89, of New Oxford, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Brethren Home with her loving family by her side.
Born September 2, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lucille Cenci. She was the loving wife of John G. Rutty with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.
Mary Lou was a RN in the United States Navy and did some nursing until she began having children, at which time she was a homemaker and raised six children.
Mrs. Rutty was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Abbottstown, PA, the Hanover Country Club, the New Comers, the Friends of the Library, was a former bowler in the Hanover ladies Bowling League and a member of the former Hanover tennis Club.
Mrs. Rutty enjoyed golfing, tennis bowling, bridge and traveling but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband John, Mary Lou is survived by five children, Annette M. Rutty, Stephanie Laidlaw and husband Richard, Andrew J. Rutty, Jacquelyn Smith and husband Brian, Timothy M. Rutty; nine grandchildren; Aurelia, Cassandra, Devlin, Edan, Courtney, Erika, Danny, Jacob and Jordan; and sister-in-law, Marian Horsman. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Theresa J. Rutty; and one brother, Raymond Horsman.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 5, 2016 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6084 West Canal Road, Abbottstown, PA, with Father Timothy D. Marcoe as celebrant. Burial will be in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Cemetery, Abbottstown, PA. A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM, Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with a Christian Wake Service at 8PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary Lou to the Alzheimer’s Association, 595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
