Miriam E. Sterner, 96, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover, surrounded by the love of family and friends. She was born April 24, 1921 in West Manheim Township, daughter of the late John and Cora Leppo. She was a homemaker and worked as a sales associate at both Barnhart’s and Handy Markets. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Gerald A. Sterner, her son Adrian, her daughter Joan, and her sister Ruth Werner.
Surviving are her daughters, Rosalinda Taylor (Kevin Fox), Fredonia, NY, Diane Masenheimer (John), Tucson, AZ and Jean Markle (Ron), Greensboro, NC, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Miriam was a long-time member of St. Bartholomew’s United Church (ELCA} and especially enjoyed the Ladies Bible Class. She loved spending time with her family. She was a wonderful friend and neighbor who touched many with her grace, humor and love. She put lots of love into everything she did and cared for everyone in her life. She never met anyone who she didn’t feel comfortable talking with. The family expresses gratitude to Joyce Werner and Homewood for their loving and compassionate care of Miriam.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, October 2, 2017 from 10 – 11 AM, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover. A service to celebrate and remember Miriam’s life will be held at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Steven E. Thomas officiating. Burial will be in St. Bartholomew Church Cemetery.
