Nevin Elwood Snyder, 92, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Community, Hanover, PA.

Born September 5, 1923, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Rufus and Mary V. (Lau) Snyder. Nevin was the loving husband of the late Loretta L. (Cromer) Snyder who died January 10, 2011.


Nevin was a 1941 graduate of the Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA and attended Penn State University.

Mr. Snyder served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a technician of the 5th grade with Company 563rd Signal Air Warning Battalion.

Nevin retired from New Way Packing and Machinery, where he worked in engineering, design, research and development and customer service.

Mr. Snyder was an active member of Hanover First Church of God, Hanover, PA.

In addition to his loving wife, Loretta, Nevin is survived by his children, Susanne E. Little of New Oxford, PA, Carol A. Bechtel of Glenville, PA and Daniel N. Snyder of Manheim, PA; grandsons, Christopher Markle, Ronald Markle, Neal Bechtel, Cory Bechtel, Matthew Bechtel and Joseph Bechtel.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Nevin will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Avenue, Hanover, PA with the Rev. Jerry Shoap officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., Hanover, PA, and from 10:00-11:00 AM, Friday, January 29, 2016 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nevin's memory to Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Community, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331 or to the Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
