Pearl Frances (Shryock) Bowersox, 92, formerly of Spring Grove, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Homewood at Plum Creek.  Born in Kingsdale, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Ethel Hill Shryock.

Pearl graduated from Eichelberger High School in 1943.  She also graduated from the Western Union Telegraph Co. School.  She was a former employee of R. H. Sheppard Co.  From 1956 to 1968, she owned The Thrift Shop in Spring Grove.  From 1971 to 1983 she sold Avon.  Pearl was a member St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hanover for 80 years.  She was active in her church, as a former Sunday School teacher, volunteer with the PAL Program and Clothing Bank, and member of the Prayer Shawl Group and Sewing Circle.  She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Association.

She enjoyed 55 years of marriage to the late Robert H. Bowersox.  She was also preceded in death by her son, James R. Bowersox of Lititz.  She is survived by sons, Richard of Thomasville and Alan of Spring Grove, daughter Belinda Tiner and husband Jim of Fayetteville, NC, daughter-in-law, Deborah Bowersox of Manheim, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Pearl’s life will be held 11 AM, Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 127 York Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating.  Burial will be in York Road Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  Viewings will be held from 6-8 PM, Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA and from 10 – 11 AM, Monday, August 15, 2016 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated for the PAL Program, Hanover Area Council of Churches, 136 Carlisle Street, PO Box 1561, Hanover, PA 17331.
