Philip D. Hoffman

July 11, 1943 ~ October 21, 2016 (age 73) 73 Years Old


Philip D. Hoffman, 73, of New Oxford, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, October 21, 2016 at his daughter’s home with his loving family by his side.

Born July 11, 1943 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Elwood and Margaret (Baer) Hoffman.

Philip was a 1962 graduate of Delone Catholic High School.  He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Philip retired from ESAB Welding where he was a supervisor and machine operator for over thirty years.  He was a life member of the New Oxford Social and Athletic Club, New Oxford, PA.

Philip always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He was an avid hunter and spent many years raising beef cattle on his farm in New Oxford.  He also loved spending time at the social club visiting with his friends.

Philip is survived by his daughters, Cathy Wallen and her husband, Dave of East Berlin, PA, Shay Stevens and her husband, Jason of Dillsburg, PA, and Abby Young and her husband, Choya of Glenville, PA; eight grandchildren, Brianna, Brantly, Sebastian, Chloe, Casie, Shyenne, Tala and Chayton; four brothers, Larry Hoffman of Spring Grove, PA, John Hoffman of Potter County, PA, Steven Hoffman and Bill Hoffman, both of Wellsville, PA; and four sisters, Joanne Snyder and Carolyn Baugher, both of Hanover, PA, Barb Thorton of New Oxford, PA and Kay Stonesifer of Hanover, PA.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Hoffman.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00-3:00PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the New Oxford Social and Athletic Club, 200 West Golden Lane, New Oxford, PA.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Philip’s memory to Sweet Charities of Hanover PMB 154, Suite #5, 1150 Carlisle Street Hanover, PA 17331.
