Richard P. Carr

October 31, 1937 ~ May 12, 2016 (age 78) 78 Years Old


Richard P. Carr, 78, of New Oxford, PA, entered into God’s eternal care, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Cross Keys Village at the Brethren Home, New Oxford, PA. 

 Born October 31, 1937 in Portland, ME, he was the son of the late Seth P. and Mildred E. (Webster) Carr.  Richard was the loving husband of Geraldine E. (Chase) Carr to whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

 Richard retired from Tim-Bar Corporation, having worked as a project engineer for ten years.  He was a member of the Conewago Community Band, the Apple Core Band and the Lake Meade Orchestra.  He also belonged to the Ruritan Club of Hampton. 

 Richard was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country proudly as an SP4 and retired as a second lieutenant in the Army Reserves.  Prior to that, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Maine.

 In addition to his wife, Geraldine, he is survived by his children, William P. Carr of Allen, TX and Dianna L. Joseph of Douglassville, PA.  He is also survived by three grandchildren.

 A graveside service to celebrate and remember Richard’s life will be held 11am, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook, ME. Military Honors will be provided.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard’s name may be made to Cross Keys Village at the Brethren Home, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350, or to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
