Robert McNeer Faust, PhD, 78, of Hanover, PA, formerly of Adelphi, MD, entered God’s eternal care, Saturday, August 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  

Born March 25, 1939 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Ralph L. and Mattie S. (McNeer) Faust.  Robert was the loving husband of Cheryl J. (Davis) Faust with whom he shared forty-one years of marriage.  

Robert was a 1957 graduate of Woodward Prep School, Washington, D.C.  He received his B.S. in Biological Sciences in 1963, a M.S. in 1967 and his Ph.D. in 1970 in Entomology, Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of Maryland. 

Robert retired in 2004 from the USDA Agricultural Research Service in Beltsville, MD where he worked for forty-six years, earning the title of Senior National Program Leader of the National Program Staff.  He received numerous agricultural technology transfer awards; and a proclamation of the Dr. Robert M. Faust Day in Hawaii Award given by the Governor, Linda Lingle, and Lieutenant Governor, James R. Alona, Jr., for leadership in area-wide pest management for the agriculture industry across the Hawaiian Islands.

In addition to his loving wife Cheryl, Robert is survived by his children, Dawn M. Darr and husband Leo P., Jr. of Edgewater, MD, David R. Faust and wife Tammy of Odenton, MD, Tammy L. Potter and husband Larry D., Jr. of Midland, VA, Barbara A. Garrison and husband Joel F., Jr. of Edgewater, MD, Sean C. Faust of Odenton, MD; step-sons,  Michael O. Morris and wife Michell of Hagerstown, MD and John F. Morris of Linthicum, MD; seven grandchildren, Christopher P. Darr, Jennifer M. Darr, Jeremiah D. Faust, Ricky L. Potter, Wyatt M. Potter, Joel F. Garrison, III, and Katlyn A. Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Lily A. Garrison and Cheyenne N. Anderson; two brothers, Ralph M. Faust and wife Susan M. of Adelphi, MD, and Leroy M. Faust and wife, Roberta J. of Stafford, VA.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Robert will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with the Rev. Joshua Rhone officiating.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
