Sylvia J. Marsh, 81, of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care, Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at Homewood at Plum Creek with her loving family by her side.

Born July 6, 1935, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Ernest G. and Pauline A. (Garrett) Kessler.  Sylvia was the loving wife of Fred L. Marsh, Sr. with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.

Sylvia was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hanover. She enjoyed music, the outdoors and taking walks as well as spending time with her family.

Mrs. Marsh was a 1953 graduate of Eichelberger High School and went on to receive her B.S in Education as well as her Master’s in Education from Shippensburg University.  She taught in the South Western Public School District at both Park Hills Elementary School and West Manheim Elementary School for a combined 26 years.

In addition to her husband Fred, Sylvia is survived by three children, Fred L. Marsh, Jr. of Hanover, PA, Greg B. Marsh and wife, Beth of San Mateo, CA, and Lori S. Rebling and husband, Tom of Hanover, PA; eight grandchildren, Allison Bogdanovic, Andrea Welch, Alissa Farrar, Adam Marsh, Katey Marsh, Emily Marsh, Erin Rebling, and Drew Rebling; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Ben, Henry, and Gabriel; three brothers, Ernest Kessler, Jr. of Gaithersburg, MD, Thomas Kessler of Hanover, PA, and Dwight Kessler of Chicago, Il; and one sister, Nancy Grove of Philadelphia, PA.  She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Celeste E. (Miller) Marsh.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hanover with the Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating.  The family will receive friends and share memories from 6-8 PM on Friday, September 9, 2016, at Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.
