Virginia Yarrish (nee Liphart) died Friday, January 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family following a long battle with the after-effects of Nasopharyngeal cancer.
She leaves behind her husband of nearly 42 years, Joseph Yarrish, her daughters Benita Koch and Jennifer Yarrish as well as two grandchildren, Alison and Ben Koch.  Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Mae Hull, and brothers James and Doug Davis.
Born September 1, 1947, Virginia spent many joyous years in Maryland, attended Southern High School in Baltimore, MD and Strayers Business College, and went on to become a dental hygienist and eventually a full-time homemaker.
Virginia’s true calling was a woman that inspired others to fight for survival.  Although she experienced a rare, deadly cancer that only had a 10% survival rate, Virginia persevered and survived for another 26 years and was considered a medical miracle by leading doctors across the country.  Her experience led doctors and researchers to investigate and better understand the linkages between oral health and physical well-being.  Despite facing many health obstacles, Virginia never complained and always tried to help others fighting disease.  In fact, she was invited to teach dental care classes, passing along what had helped her.
Virginia had a strong faith in God and life beyond death, and was comforted in the conviction that her soul would go on living.
"Our Lord has written the promise of the resurrection, not in books alone but in every leaf in springtime… our only consolation is the expectancy of another life." - Martin Luther
