Alan John DeGennaro, 66, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  

Born August 29, 1950 in Altoona, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony and Margaret A. (Roman) DeGennaro.  Alan was the loving husband of Barbara S. (Camp) DeGennaro with whom he shared 39 years of marriage.  

Alan was a graduate of the Michigan State University and the University of Maryland.  He taught Chemistry in the Carroll County Public School System. 

Alan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a former council member, was an usher, gift bearer and Costco runner.  He volunteered at the Hanover Hospital, Guthrie Memorial Library, and habitat for Humanity.

In addition to his wife Barbara, Alan is survived by one son, Matthew DeGennaro and wife Daphne, three grandchildren, Audri, Norah, and Thomas, two brothers, Ray DeGennaro and wife Andrea and their son Daniel, and Tony DeGennaro and wife Gayle and their son Phillip.

Following Cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Friday, August 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with Msgr. James M. Lyons as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Alan may be made to York Habitat for Humanity, 33 S Seward St, West York, PA 17404 or to the York Health Foundation/Well Span, Cancer Patient Help Fund, 50 N. Duke Street, York, PA 17401.
