Alvin H. Cape, Sr., 80, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, May 26, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side.    

Born February 12, 1937 in Brodbecks, PA, he was the son of the late John and Almeda (Kessler) Cape.  Alvin was the loving husband of Helen Mae (Keith) Cape with whom he shared sixty-two years of marriage.

Alvin was a member of St. Paul’s Dubs Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.

Alvin retired from Hanover Wire Cloth with over 46 years of service, having worked in all facets of the company but lastly as a die-maker.  He was a former member of the Republican Club of Hanover, PA.

Alvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, travelling, and listening to country music.

In addition to his loving wife, Helen, Alvin is survived by his children, Randy L. Cape of Hanover, PA, Peggy Ann Fetterhoff of Waynesboro, PA, and Debra M. Johnson of Hanover; six grandchildren, Jenny, Michael, Jason, Erik, Nick and Connor; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two brothers, Donald Cape of Spring Grove, PA and Robert Cape of York, PA.  He was preceded in death by a son, Alvin H. Cape, Jr. and two brothers, Kenneth Cape and Allen Cape.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Alvin’s life will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Larry M. Estepp officiating.  Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Cape, Jason Rummel, Erik Rummel, Ryan Fetterhoff, Nick Fetterhoff and Connor Fetterhoff.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Alvin’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society -  York/Adams, ATTN: Memorial, 924 N Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
