Ben J. Strasbaugh, 78, passed away on November 21, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Born September 1, 1939 he was the son of the late Raymond F. and Catherine E. (Hawn) Strasbaugh.

Ben graduated from Delone Catholic High School Class of 1958.  After graduating, he worked as a bricklayer until being drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War in 1963, achieving the rank of Corporal.  He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal on June 28, 1965. 

After completing his service responsibilities, he worked for Caretti Inc. for over forty years until his retirement in 2002.  He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Donna (Pottorff) Strasbaugh, three daughters, Melissa R. Lewis and husband, Earl of Mechanicsville, VA, Shannon N. Harvey and husband, Richard of Gettysburg, PA, and Tara A. Arigo and husband, Anthony of Cumberland, MD, five grandchildren, Cody and McKenna Arigo, Emma and Alison Harvey and Macy Lewis, one brother, Robert Strasbaugh, seven sisters, Bernadine Null, Nancy Lawrence, Sylvia Eckenrode, Jane Strasbaugh, Kathleen Roth, Margaret Funari and Laura Weaver.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Strasbaugh and Philip Strasbaugh.

Ben enjoyed spending time with his family playing cards, camping, fishing and going on hunting trips. 

Ben was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Bonneauville, PA.  He was a lector at his church for the daily mass. 

He was a member of the CWV in Bonneauville, a life-time member of Bonneauville Fire Department, and a member of Union Trowel Trades. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 25, 2017, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg (Bonneauville), PA, with Father Benny Jose as celebrant.  A time for caring and sharing will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church.  Burial will be in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church Cemetery, Bonneauville, PA.  The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard will provide Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ben’s name to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or to the American Cancer Society, PO. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
