Betty L. Sterner

Betty L. Sterner, 92, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Wednesday, January 01, 2020 at the Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing center.

Born September 12, 1927 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Lillie (Brown) Lansinger Venis.  Betty was the loving wife of the late Blanton O. Sterner with whom she shared 53 years of marriage until his passing July 7, 2004.

Betty was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover, PA.  She worked in the cafeteria of Hanover Public School District for many years.

Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends. 

Betty is survived by her two sons, Dale B. Sterner and David J. Sterner both of Hanover, PA, two brothers, Denis Venis of clearwater, FL and Ted Venis of Piscataway, NJ, and three sisters, Dolores Claytor of Branchburg, NJ, Arlene Venis of Gainesville, GA, and Catherine Smith of Stewartsville, NJ.  She was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Harwanko, Maxine Wargo, and Lois Foster; and one brother, Francis Lansinger.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Betty’s life will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Father Michael J. Reid, II officiating.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1-2 PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty’s name may be made to St. Vincent de Paul catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or the HART Center, 450 East Golden Lane, New Oxford, PA 17350.
