Burnell C. Barnhart, 103, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover.
Born March 7, 1915 in Hanover, PA he was the son of the late John C. and Rena E. (Bechtel) Barnhart. Burnell was the loving husband of the late Margaret E. (Rohrbaugh) Barnhart who died May 8, 2002.
Mr. Barnhart was a life member of St. David’s Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA, where he was a former choir member, former council member and former Sunday School teacher. He was a member and past president of the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the P.O. S. of A. Camp 140, and the West Manheim Farmers Association.
Burnell was a farmer in West Manheim Township all his life.
Burnell is survived by one son, David C. Barnhart of McSherrystown, PA, three daughters, Marjorie E. Wentz of Hanover, PA, Nancy L. Bankert of New Oxford, PA, and Iva R. Martin of Manchester, MD, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren, two brothers, Nevin L. Barnhart of Hanover, PA, Earl R. Barnhart of McSherrystown, PA, and two sisters, Gladys Shearer of Hanover, PA and Ruth Grove of York, PA. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Cletus L. Barnhart, George H. Barnhart, and John J. Barnhart.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Burnell’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 9, 2018 at St. David’s Lutheran Church, 1032 Musselman Road, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor the Rev. LaDonna Thomas officiating. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the church. Burial will be in St. David’s Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
