Burnell Jago Obituary

Burnell L. “Bud” Jago, 94, of Bonneauville, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Gettysburg Center.

Born June 11, 1924 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late William J. and Florence V. (Hartlaub) Jago.  Burnell was the loving husband of the late Doris N. (Croft) Jago to whom he was married for 73 years until her passing on July 17, 2016.

Bud was a veteran of The United States Army having served his country proudly during World War II.  He was awarded the American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal.

Burnell and his late brother William were the owners and operators of Jago Brothers Used Cars in Bonneauville from 1952 until he retired in 1987.

Bud was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Bonneauville, PA, The Catholic War Veterans Post 1342, Bonneauville, PA as well as the Littlestown VFW Post 6954.

Burnell is survived by his children Steven A. Jago and wife Deborah of Littlestown, PA and Judith M. Rockey and husband Mac of Hanover, PA; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon R. Jago, one son, Tyrone F. Jago, five sisters, Dot Lerew, Irene Myers, Madalyn Ginter, Mildred Ingram, and Dolores Harner, and two brothers, William N. Jago and Joseph Jago.

A service to celebrate and remember Bud’s life will be held 11 AM, Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 66 East Hanover Street, Bonneauville, PA, with Father Benny Jose officiating.  Burial will be in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church Cemetery, Bonneauville, PA, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail providing Military Honors.  The family will receive friends and share memories from 10 – 11 AM, Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Burnell’s memory may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 10 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
