C. Edward Lawrence, 89, of New Oxford, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Brethren Home, New Oxford, PA, surrounded by his loving family.  

Born April 9, 1928 in New Oxford, PA, he was the son of the late Henry and Johanna (Smith) Lawrence.  Ed was the loving husband of the late Doris M. (Gouker) Lawrence with whom he shared 51 years of marriage until her passing on October 5, 1999.  

Ed was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Basilica, Hanover, PA as well as a team member of the Brushtown Bulldogs.  He was an avid baseball fan all his life.

Mr. Lawrence was a supervisor for New York Wire Company for over 40 years until his retirement.  He worked part time at Hanover Toyota following his retirement.

Ed is survived by six children, Edward E. Lawrence and wife Peg, Jane M. Hempfing, Steven L. Lawrence and wife Lizabeth, Terry J. Lawrence and wife Jodi, Tucker A. Lawrence and wife Holly, and Todd A. Lawrence and wife Bobbie, 14 grandchildren, Jen Dixon, Doug Lawrence, Brian Lawrence, Amy Iasso, Kristin O’Brien, Mark Wright, Nicole Clifton, Alexander Lawrence, Christopher Lawrence, Sarah Lawrence, Hannah Lawrence, Emma Lawrence, Sydney Lawrence, and Nick Lawrence, 13 great grandchildren, and one sister, Louise A. Kuhn.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Lawrence, Robert Lawrence, George Lawrence, and one son-in-law, Dean Hempfing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 PM, Monday, August 7, 2017 at Sacred Heart Basilica, 30 Basilica Drive, Hanover, PA, with Father Joseph Howard as celebrant.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Basilica Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 AM, Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.

Serving as casketbearers will be Ed’s grandchildren.
