Donald Albert Gebhart, Sr., 83, of New Oxford, PA, entered God’s Eternal Care, Thursday, May 24, 2018 at home with his loving family by his side.
Born September 30, 1934 in Mount Misery, PA, he was the son of the late Albert J. and Gladys E. (Smith) Gebhart. Donald was the loving husband of H. Jane (Reasner) Gebhart with whom he shared thirty-three years of marriage.
Donald served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, where he was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal.
Mr. Gebhart retired from ESAB in 1996 after 40 years of service in the maintenance department.
Donald was a member of the New Oxford Social Club, the East Berlin VFW, the Hanover AMVETS Post 22, and the Hanover American Legion Post 14.
In addition to his wife Jane, Donald is survived by two sons, Donald A. Gebhart Jr and wife Wanda, Steven D. Piper of New Oxford, PA, three daughters, Debra A. Sanders and husband Robert A. , Kathy M. McIntyre and husband Gerard of New Oxford, PA, and Kimberly Topper and companion Melvin Riser of East Berlin, PA, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie L. Gebhart, three siblings, Frederick J. Gebhart, Gloria A. Garman and John L. Gebhart.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Donald will be held 7:00PM, Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Peter Oglive officiating. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00PM, Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the funeral home.
