Evelyn Anderson Bishop

Evelyn Anderson Bishop, 93, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s Eternal Care Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Sharon’s Personal Care Home, Hanover, PA. 

Born October 1, 1924 in Hanover, PA she was the daughter of the late Rev. Bruce H. and Vergie C. (Wolf) Anderson.  Evelyn was the loving wife of the late William D. Bishop Sr, who passed away June 12, 2001, and with whom she shared over fifty-five years of marriage. 

Evelyn was a member of Hanover Church of the Brethren.  She was a housewife, and in her earlier years worked for the Hanover Cordage Company from 1942-1947.

Evelyn was a York County P.I.A.A. volleyball official for over twenty-five years.  She was a New York Yankees fan, liked watching sports on TV, enjoyed bowling until the age of eighty, and especially loved playing cards with her family.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Barbara E. Horak of Hanover, PA; William D. Bishop, Jr. of Glenville, PA and Karen E. Unger of Hanover, PA; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles E. Anderson and Bruce L. Anderson; and a sister, Kathryn R. Harbold.   

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Evelyn’s life will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Friday, August 3, 2018 and from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Evelyn’s memory to Sharon’s Personal Care Home, 1441 Baltimore Pike, Hanover, PA 17331.
