Hilda May “Peg” Fitz, 77, of New Oxford, PA, entered God’s Eternal Care Friday, March 24, 2017 at Genesis-Gettysburg Center. 

Born June 23, 1939 in Gettysburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Glenn O. and Ada M. (Smith) Tipton.  She was the loving wife of the late Richard “Dick” T. Fitz, who died October 31, 1989.

Peg was a 1957 graduate of Gettysburg High School.  She formerly worked at the Gettysburg Shoe Factory and Eisenhower Inn.  She enjoyed spending time with family, growing flowers, vacationing at OBX and was an avid bingo player.

Peg is survived by her children, Vicky L. Fitz of Gettysburg, PA, Lisa M. Hertzog and husband David of Gettysburg, PA and Joan L. Fitz and her companion Andrew Justice of Camp Hill, PA; four grandchildren, Heather Sauers and husband Nathaniel, Elizabeth Taughinbaugh and husband Tyrel, Tyler Hertzog and wife Rachel, and Zachary Hertzog and his companion Marina Garrison; two great-grandchildren, Oliver Sauers and Carson Taughinbaugh; and one sister, Patricia Fissel.   She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Tipton, Jr. and Robert Tipton. 

Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Peg’s life will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 66 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg (Bonneauville), PA.  Burial will be private and in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Emmitsburg, MD.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the funeral home.
