Janet L. Mummert, 91, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center, Hanover, PA.

Born September 10, 1926 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late William P. Noble and Ruth (Wentz) Noble Lippy, and the step-daughter of the late Richard H. Lippy.  Janet was the loving wife of the late Alton L. Mummert who died May 21, 1997.  

Janet was a 1944 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA.  She was a secretary at Utz Quality Foods, then at the Hanover Junior High School, and then became the business manager for the Hanover Public School District until her retirement in 1981.

Janet was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.  She was a life-member and held all the officer positions within the Soroptimist Club of Hanover, a member and former officer of the Hanover Chapter of AARP, and volunteered for over twenty years for the American Cancer Society.

Janet had a great sense of humor, loved reading, sewing, gardening, attending plays and concerts, and spending time with her family.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Denise A. Mummert and her husband Larry Fisher of Avondale Estates, GA; and two brothers, Philip A. Lippy of Hanover, PA and Robert W. Lippy of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Janet will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Homewood at Plum Creek Chapel, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Joel Hummel officiating.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Janet’s memory to the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
