Jean Chilcote Smith, 90, of Davenport, FL, formerly of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at her home in Davenport, FL.

Jean was born June 30, 1927, in Huntingdon, PA.   She was the daughter of the late Oscar M. and Dora Chilcote.  Jean was the loving wife of the late George E. Smith, who died July 31, 1993.  Jean was also preceded in death by her son, Alan W. Smith who died July 5, 2016.

Mrs. Smith was a long-time member of Grace United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA.

Jean enjoyed helping those in need and spending time with her loved ones. Mrs. Smith planted the seed for the formation of the PAL (Provide a Lunch) program in Hanover.

Jean retired as a nurse, having worked for Dr. Reginald T. Gobel and Dr. Mark Redding, Jr., both of Hanover.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Linda Tyson of Davenport, FL, daughter-in-law, Teena Smith, four grandchildren, Michele Meckley, Kathi Martin, Dawn Bullock and Brandy Tyson, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service to celebrate and remember Jean will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover, PA with the Rev. Robin S. Keating officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the PAL Program, c/o Hanover Area Council of Churches, 136 Carlisle St., Hanover, Pa. 17331, or to the Cornerstone Hospice, 2590 Havendale Blvd NW, Winter Haven, FL 33881.
