Joanne R. Higgins

Joanne Rita Higgins, 69, of McSherrystown, PA, entered God’s Eternal Care, Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at home with her loving family by her side.

Born May 30, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John G. and Anna M. (Roccia) Drago.  She was the loving wife of Frank H. Higgins, II with whom she shared fifty-two years of marriage. 

Joanne was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover, PA. 

Joanne was a floral designer for 40 years and was co-owner of On Angel’s Wings Florist in McSherrystown, PA.             

Joanne enjoyed designing floral arrangements, yearly trips to Colorfest with her sisters, gardening, going on cruises, and loved spending time with her family, especially Sunday dinners.

In addition to her loving husband Frank, Joanne is survived by her dear daughters, Tisha A. Leonard and her husband Tom of Hanover, PA, and Trina M. Beckner and her husband Doug of McSherrystown, PA; five grandchildren, Lane Beckner, Lauryn Beckner, Lance Beckner, Bryce Leonard and Brett Leonard; six siblings, Josephine Clark and her husband Joe, John Drago and his wife Karen, Donna Brady and her husband Chip, and Denise Gottsch and her husband Greg, all of Hanover, PA, and Mamie Robertson and her husband Jim of Davenport, FL, and Joseph Drago and his wife Steph, of Davenport, Florida.   

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate and remember Joanne will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA, with her nephew, the Very Reverend Paul M. Clark, J.C.L. as celebrant.  A viewings and times to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, November 16, 2018 and from 10-10:45 AM, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.   A prayer service will be held 8 PM, Friday, November 16, 2018 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA. 

Serving as casketbearers will be John Drago, Joseph Drago, Jerry Roccia, Joe Roccia, Chip Brady, Doug Beckner, Joe Clark, Bryce Leonard, Lane Beckner, Brett Leonard, Lance Beckner, and Lauryn Beckner.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joanne’s name to the Adams County S.P.C.A., 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
