Joyce Evelyn (Fleming) Amspacher peacefully entered in to God’s eternal care on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Homewood Plum Creek, Hanover PA.

Born in Hanover on December 31, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Mable (Leightner) and Maurice Fleming.  She was married to Earl L. Amspacher for 49 years, until his death on September 24, 1996.

She is survived by daughter Susan E. Marsh and husband Larry of Hanover; son Steven E. Amspacher and wife Donna, East Berlin; daughter-in-law Teresa Amspacher, Shippensburg PA; and sister Betty Morelock , Gettysburg PA.  Grandchildren Kathi Anderson Dietrich, Hanover; Jennifer Amspacher Kyner and husband Bradly, Chambersburg; Erik B. Amspacher and wife Megan, York; Randi Amspacher Harris and husband, Richard, Harrisburg; Steven E. Amspacher Jr., East Berlin; step-grandaughters Amy Marsh Rhoades and husband Stephen, Mt. Vernon Ohio; and Malinda Marsh Rettinger, Harrisburg.  Great-grandchildren Hunter Kyner and wife Chelsea; Garrett Kyner; Nathen and Joshua Dietrich; Preston, Sophie and Camdyn Amspacher; Ricky Harris; Levi, Carson and Wyatt Rhoades; Samuel, Mark, Mary and Sadie Rettinger; and dear friends Emerson and Elizabeth Whipkey.

She was pre-deceased by her son, Thomas E. Amspacher; brother Guy Fleming; sisters Iona Banzoff, Margaret Alban, and Beatrice Markle; grandson Michael A. Anderson, and special friend Eldon Ackerly.

Joyce was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Elks Ladies’ Auxiliary, and had worked as a seamstress at Middleburg Manufacturing, retiring from Doubleday. Joyce was a tidy homemaker and enjoyed preparing “slippy” beef pot pie; hosting Christmas Eve gatherings for family and friends; and cooking large family holiday dinners.  She enjoyed travelling with her husband to Hawaii, snow birding in Florida, day bus trips with friends, and vacationing in Ocean City Maryland with her family.  She was an avid reader with a large book collection and avidly collected angels. She will be most remembered as a gentle, kind, and loving mother and grandmother to her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held 1 PM, Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Joel Hummel officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Guthrie Memorial Library, Alzheimer’s Research, or the American cancer Society.
