June Irene Gass, 88, of Hanover, PA, entered peacefully into God’s eternal care, Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center with her loving family by her side.

Born June 27, 1930 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Milton E. and Mary E. (Simpson) Baublitz.  June was the loving wife of the late Raymond L. Gass, Jr. with whom she shared 58 years of marriage until his passing on November 18, 2012.    

Mrs. Gass was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Codorus, PA.  She worked in the Stock room at the former Bon Ton department store for over 20 years until her retirement.

June enjoyed crocheting, making craft items with her husband for gifts for her friends and family, going to her grandchildren’s sporting events, and doing puzzles.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

June is survived by one son, Raymond E. Gass and wife Debra; four daughters, Anna Yingling and husband F. Richard, Theresa Shoemaker, Carlyn Almony and husband Stephen, and Vickie Gilbert and husband David; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lewis Baublitz, Harry Baublitz, Glenn Baublitz, and Charles Baublitz; and one son-in-law, Earl Shoemaker.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember June’s life will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with her nephew, the Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be June’s grandsons F. Richard Yingling, Jeffrey R. Yingling, Mark A. Shoemaker, Douglas M. Newman, Alexander C. Almony, Jeffrey A. Geiman, Jason L. Geiman, Jared R. Gass, Bradley S. Brewer, and Dustin A. Brewer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
