Welcome to the memorial page for

Lauren R. Schott

March 20, 1937 ~ May 29, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Lauren Schott, known to all as Pete, died of acute leukemia at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Pete was born in Hanover, the son of Helen Galt Schott and Lauren Howard Schott. He was graduated from Hanover High School and later from the University of Michigan. Pete did his military service in the PA National Guard.

Pete returned to Hanover after college to join his family’s furniture manufacturing business. He soon rose to be head of the company. When he decided to close the manufacturing business Pete and his beloved wife Jane, turned what had been a small factory outlet into a highly successful retail furniture store.

Pete was an avid tennis player and an accomplished gardener. He was involved in a number of local non-profit organizations including the V.N.A where he served as Treasure of the Board of Trustees.  He also served on the Board of the Guthrie Memorial Library and as a patient advocate volunteer at the Hanover Hospital. Pete will be remembered by many as a lifelong Cubs fan.

Jane Shafer Schott, Pete’s beloved wife, predeceased him. He is survived by his children Cameron Schott Dunlap of Charlotte NC and Andrew Robert Schott of Madison AL as well as his two grand children Diane and Michael Schott.

A public memorial service will be held at a time and date to be announced later.
