Lowell K. Fuhrman, 86, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s Eternal care, Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Sunrise of Paoli Assisted Living Center, Malvern, PA.

Born May 24, 1931 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Jesse D. and Flora A.M. (Gobrecht) Fuhrman.  Lowell was the loving husband of the late Doris M. (McGallicher) Fuhrman who died January 2, 2015.

Lowell was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA.  He was a member of the PA Matchbox Collectors Club and the Hanover Numismatic Society.

Lowell was a graduate of Eichelberger High School, received his B.S.in Education from Shippensburg Normal School and his Master’s from Penn State University.  He was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country proudly during the Korean War.

Lowell started his career in education in 1953 and retired in 1988 with thirty-five years accumulated service.  Most of those years he taught at South Western as one of the original teachers when the school opened.   He left the classroom and served in the Administration as a Vice-Principal from 1970-1973 and Athletic Director before going back to the classroom until his retirement.

Lowell enjoyed going to yard sales, camping with his family, and going to dinner theater with his late wife.

Lowell is survived by one son, Kirk L. Fuhrman and wife Cindy and children Jackie and Kenny of Downingtown, PA and one daughter, Kim M. Shorb and husband Scott and children Michael and Kristen of Hanover, PA.   He was preceded in death by brothers, Homer G. Fuhrman and Garland J. Fuhrman.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 124 Broadway, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor the Rev. Russell D. Clark officiating.  The family will receive friends and share memories from 10-11 AM, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the church.  Burial will be in St. Bartholomew’s Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with Military Honors provided by Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail.
