Michael Raymond Mathias, 67, of Glenville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 19, 2019 at the York Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born September 27, 1951, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Donald R. and Joyce A. (Barry) Mathias. Michael was the loving husband of Diane M. (Ganze) Mathias with whom he shared forty-five years of marriage.
Michael was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Hanover, PA, having served in a variety of ministries. He was a former Church Elder for many years, lead the Adopt-A-Family ministry, and taught Sunday school, and taught classes on self-confrontation.
Michael retired from ESAB in 2018 after twelve years of service as an electrical engineer.
Michael was an avid reader, he enjoyed studying God’s Word, RV-ing, and in his younger years racing motorcycles.
In addition to his loving wife, Diane, Michael is survived by two children, Ashley S. Koontz of Clearville, PA, and Sean M. Mathias of Glenville, PA; six grandchildren, Peyton, Cassandra, Emma, Madelyn, Daniel, and Kayley; two brothers, Richard Mathias of Ellicott City, MD, and Joseph A. Mathias of Catonsville, MD; and two sisters, Donna Hoffmann of Calvert Cliffs, MD, and Mary Wagner of Ellicott City, MD. He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Mathias.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Michael will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, August 23, 2019 at Calvary Bible Church, 603 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA with his pastor the Rev. Dan Dellosso officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, PA. Viewings and times to share memories with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, August 22, 2019, and from 10:00-11:00 AM, Friday, August 23, 2019 both at the church.
