Philip E. Raber

Philip Edward Raber, 83, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s Eternal care, Sunday, April 1, 2018 at home with his loving family by his side.

Born February 22, 1935, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Edward and Pauline G. (Henry) Raber.  He was the loving husband of Barbara E. (Rebert) Raber with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.

Phil was a member of Living Faith Church, Littlestown, PA.

Phil retired in 2009 from the Littlestown Foundry, Inc., earning recognition for working over fifty-six years in the Foundry.  He was a member of the Hanover Home Association, the Gettysburg Moose Lodge #1526, and the Bean Club.

Phil was a very caring person.  He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He loved watching them grow up.  If Phil was coming home from work and a car was along the side of the road with the hood up, he would stop to help.  He loved working on his cousin’s small farm.  He would drive his M. John Deer tractor to plant corn which they would sell to anyone. He loved going to work at the foundry.  He would go early so he could sit and drink coffee with the boys.  Phil started foundry work at seventeen and retired when he had his second heart attack and they found small cell lung cancer at seventy-four in 2009.

In addition to his loving wife Barbara, Phil is survived by his children, Gary Milburn of Hanover, PA, Deborah Sponseller of New Oxford, PA, Connie Staub of Spring Grove, PA, Keith Raber of New Oxford, PA, Paul Raber of Hanover, PA, Phillis Hoff of Spring Grove, PA and Breita Stahl of Hanover, PA; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Raber of York, PA.  He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Raber and a brother, Mark Raber.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Phil will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Larry Douthwaite officiating.  Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Phil’s memory to Living Faith Church, 1490 Frederick Pike, Littlestown, PA 17340.
