Richard Francis Krug, 85, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Center, Hanover, PA.
Born August 23, 1932 in Lineboro, Maryland, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary A. (Koontz) Krug. Richard was the loving husband of Joan E. (Sipe) Krug with whom he shared fifty-eight years of marriage.
Richard was a 1949 graduate of Codorus Township High School.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country proudly during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of AMVETS Post #22, the Hanover American Legion Post #14, and the Hanover Republican Club, and a life-member of the Hanover Home Association and the Hanover VFW Post #2506.
Richard retired from Black and Decker in Hampstead, MD, having worked as a lead man for over thirty-five years. He loved the outdoors, going to auctions, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife, Joan, Richard is survived by his children, Sharon L. Fuhrman and companion Keith Blettner of Hanover, PA, Barry S. Krug of Hanover, PA and Stephen L. Krug of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, Casey Fuhrman and wife Julia, Francis Fuhrman and wife Kathi, Alan Fuhrman and wife Kelly, Vincent Krug and Coty Krug; four great-grandchildren, Ajay Fuhrman, Arie Fuhrman, Mason Krug and Avery Krug. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Kenneth Krug, Edna Myers, Catherine Bixler, Frank Krug and Robert Krug.
A funeral to remember and celebrate Richard will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Lazarus United Church of Christ, 5101 S. Church Street, Lineboro, MD, with Pastor Rodney Gross officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA and from 10:00-11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the church. Burial will be in Lazarus Church Cemetery, Lineboro, MD. The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail will provide Military Honors.
