Richard L. “Dick” Paschal, 85, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the Hanover Hall Nursing Center.

Born December 2, 1931 in Fremont, NE, he was the son of the late Arthur E. and Delta C. (Dawson) Paschal.  Dick was the loving husband of Joan C. (Cusack) Paschal with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Dick graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.S in Architectural Engineering.  He practiced architecture for various firms in the Washington, DC area including Chloethiel Woodard Smith & Associates and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. He retired from the National Gallery of Art. Early in his career, he worked for his family business in Vinton, IA building corn cribs.

Dick served his country proudly in the United States Army Corps of Engineers from 1954 – 1956.  He was a member of Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church, Gettysburg, PA, where he was very active and instrumental in their recent addition and expansion project, as well as a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Dick enjoyed gardening, woodworking, travel, and taking care of his 10 acres of land. He treasured time with family and friends, and walking with his beloved dog, Brockie.

In addition to his loving wife Joan, Dick is survived by his children, Lisa Snyder and husband David of Baltimore, MD, John A. Paschal and wife Karen Kettering of Seattle, WA, and Catherine A. Paschal of Bethesda, MD; five grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Dana, Cleo, and Jack.

A memorial service to celebrate and remember Dick’s life will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church, 1865 Knoxlyn Road, Gettysburg, PA, with his Pastor the Rev. Anthony San Felippo officiating.  Interment will be held later at Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church, Bethesda, MD.
