Terry S. Bowman

November 7, 1941 ~ June 5, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old


Terry S. Bowman, 75, of Spring Grove, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Monday, June 5, 2017 at the York Hospital. 

Born November 7, 1941 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late John S. and Nellie M. (Valentine) Bowman.  Terry was the loving husband of Darlene (Dull) Bowman with whom he shared forty-eight years of marriage on March 8, 2017.

Terry worked for the Hanover Shoe Company (now C and J Clark America, Inc.) for twenty-five years at the Carlisle Street, Hanover, plant until it closed in 1984.  Then he worked for Thomasville Stone and Lime Co., starting January 7, 1985.  He worked at Thomasville for nineteen years and retired in January of 2004.

Terry was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, York Street, Hanover and his favorite hymn is “The Old Rugged Cross.”

Terry graduated from Eichelberger High School in 1959.  His favorite teacher at EHS was the late Steve Padjen.  He enjoyed having coffee with the guys and going to carnivals and fairs.  He enjoyed walking and was a member of the North Hanover Mall Pace Setters.  He had given blood frequently to the Red Cross and Wellspan.

In addition to his loving wife, Darlene, Terry is survived by his children, Barry S. Bowman and Elizabeth B. DeGroft; grandchildren, Tasha R. Ambrosius, Crystal B. DeLucio and husband Marco DeLucio and daughter, Hayley DeLucio, Heather M. Bowman, and Zachary A. Ambrosius and wife, Molly and daughter, Zoey Ambrosius and a third great-grandchild on the way; sister, Esther B. Swope and husband, Raymond L.; brother, Donald E. Bowman, Sr., and wife Kathleen H.; brother-in-law, Gary Dull and sister-in-law Marlene Raber.

A graveside service to celebrate and remember Terry’s life will be held 11 AM, Friday, June 9, 2017 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating. 

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 127 York Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
